Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information MegaScreens collects, why we collect it, what we do with it, and the choices and rights you have. It covers this website, megascreens.com, and the enquiries and projects that come through it.

Who we are

TODO before publication: the registered company name, company number and registered office address of the MegaScreens entity that acts as data controller have not yet been confirmed, and are deliberately left blank rather than guessed at. This paragraph must be completed before this policy is published.

MegaScreens is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Our operating office is Gallery Court, Hankey Place, London SE1 4BB, United Kingdom.

The information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may hold:

• Enquiry details. Your name, email address, phone number, city, country, the type of project you are asking about and anything you tell us in the message box.
• Project and customer details. Contact details for the people managing a project, site and delivery information, and the billing details we need to invoice you.
• Correspondence. Emails, calls and meeting notes relating to a quote, a project or ongoing support.
• Website usage. Which pages you look at, how you arrived, what you clicked, the approximate location and device your connection reports, and any errors the site produces. This is described in full under Analytics and your privacy, below.

We do not collect payment card details on this website and we do not store them. We do not knowingly collect information about children, and this site is not aimed at them.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to someone who has asked us to, or the steps needed to enter into a contract with you.
• To deliver, install and support a project, and to invoice for it. Our lawful basis is performance of our contract with you.
• To keep the records that tax, accounting and product safety law require us to keep. Our lawful basis is our legal obligation.
• To send occasional updates about our work, where you have asked for them. Our lawful basis is your consent, and every message carries an unsubscribe link.
• To understand how this website is used and to improve it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a site that works, balanced against a straightforward way for you to opt out.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with advertising networks, and we do not make automated decisions about you.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the suppliers who help us run the business, and only with what they need:

• The hosting and content platforms this website runs on.
• Our analytics provider, as described below.
• Our email, accounting and project management systems.
• Installation and logistics partners, where a project needs a site visit or a delivery.
• Professional advisers, and any authority we are legally required to disclose information to.

Every supplier is bound to keep the information confidential and to use it only on our instructions.

Where it is held

Personal information is held in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area wherever we can arrange it. Where a supplier processes information outside those areas, we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, or an adequacy decision, so that your information keeps the same protection it has here.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become projects: three years from your last contact with us, then deleted.
• Customer and project records: seven years after the end of the relationship, which is what our tax and accounting obligations require.
• Marketing consent: until you withdraw it, and for two years afterwards as a record that you did.
• Website analytics: one year.

Your rights

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• have inaccurate information corrected
• ask us to delete information we no longer need
• ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to us using it
• ask us to send information you gave us to another organisation
• withdraw consent at any time, where consent is what we relied on

To exercise any of these, write to hello@megascreens.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first, so we have the chance to put it right.

Keeping it safe

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. Access is limited to the people who need it to do their job, systems are kept patched, and accounts are protected with multi-factor authentication.

Links to other websites

This site links out to other websites, including our sibling brands. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Read their own policies before you give them anything.

Analytics and your privacy

We measure how this website is used so we can make it better. Nothing more.

What we collect

When you visit megascreens.com we record things like:

• which pages you look at, and in what order
• how you arrived, for example from a search engine, a link on another site or an email
• which links and buttons get clicked, and how far down a page people read
• the country or city your connection appears to come from, the type of device you are using, and your browser
• any errors the site produces, so we can find and fix them

This is stored under a random identifier held in your browser. We do not know your name, and we do not try to work it out. If you send us an enquiry, we do not link what you typed to the pages you read beforehand.

Why we collect it

To answer questions like: which pages are people actually reading, where do they give up, is the enquiry form working, is anything broken. We use the answers to improve the site.

We do not use any of it for advertising. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with advertising networks.

Who processes it

• PostHog provides our analytics. Data is held on servers in the European Union and is kept for one year.
• Vercel, who host the site, provide basic visitor counts and page speed measurements. These set no cookies and store nothing in your browser.

We do not record or replay individual browsing sessions.

Your choice

Because this is used only to produce aggregate statistics about how the site is used, and never for advertising, UK law lets us collect it without asking you first. It also requires us to give you a straightforward way to say no.

You can switch analytics off at any time, in one click, at Analytics and your privacy. It takes effect immediately and we will stop collecting anything from your browser. Your choice is remembered in that browser, so you will need to set it again on another device or if you clear your browsing data.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we honour it and collect nothing, whatever the setting on that page says.

Advertising

We do not currently run any advertising or retargeting tags on this site. If that changes, those tags will be switched off by default and will load only for people who turn them on at Analytics and your privacy, and this section will be updated to name them.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top of the page tells you when it was last reviewed. If a change affects you materially we will say so on the site rather than quietly amending the page.
